When this customer looked round their home and thought about packing it themselves, the fragile stuff was the deal-breaker. Fine china, antique ornaments, and a 115kg ceramic dining table that wasn’t going anywhere without a plan. They booked our full pack and move service so the worry sat with us, not them.
We carried out the pack a couple of days before move day. That’s the whole point of a pre-move pack: by the time the van turns up, everything is wrapped, protected, dismantled where needed, and ready to load. No last-minute scrambles, no hunting for tape, no items left to chance.
The fine china
Each piece was wrapped individually in bubble wrap and sealed with fragile tape. With this much china, you can’t rush it. One careless wrap and a chip becomes a crack becomes a write-off. Three of the team worked through the lot in the dining room, building up neat rows of wrapped pieces ready to box.
The 115kg ceramic dining table
This was the one the customer was most nervous about, and fair enough. A solid ceramic top is heavy, awkward, and very unforgiving if you knock it on a doorframe. We protected the corners with cardboard, padded the surface with bubble wrap, then wrapped the whole top in moving blankets and stretch film. By the time we’d finished, you couldn’t see an inch of the original table.
The rest of the home
Beyond the headline pieces, the property was full of antiques, mirrors, gilt-framed pieces and quality furniture that all needed proper care. Bronze figures, glass cabinet contents, marble fireplaces nearby – everything handled the same way. Wrap, protect, label, secure. Furniture went into padded blankets and was strapped down with ratchet straps so nothing could shift on the journey.
