This was meant to be a straightforward house move from Manchester to Bolton. Pack up, drive over, unload, done. Then at 3pm on move day, the customer’s solicitors dropped the bombshell. Completion wasn’t happening. No keys, no new house, and a van load of furniture with nowhere to go.

Storage World stepped straight in
A couple of years ago we partnered with Storage World in Middleton for exactly this kind of situation. When a completion falls apart on the day, we don’t have to start ringing round trying to find somewhere to put a customer’s belongings. We drove straight to the loading bay and got the keys to a unit the same afternoon.
The customer didn’t have to organise a thing. We unloaded everything into a secure unit, stacked it properly so nothing would shift or get squashed sitting over the weekend, and locked it down ready to come back for on Monday.
Packed in, ready for Monday
Beds, bedding, boxes, electronics, wardrobes, a wicker basket, the lot. All in and arranged so we’d have a clear run when collection day came. When you’re storing for two or three days rather than two or three months, the unload still needs proper care. Pile things badly and you’ll be picking up damaged items on Monday morning.
Back on the road first thing Monday
The sale completed over the weekend and we were at Storage World first thing Monday morning to load back up and finish the job. By the end of the day the customer was in their new Bolton home with everything delivered, reassembled, and put in the rooms they wanted, including the bed frame back together and ready for the first night’s sleep.
A move that could have ended in tears ended up being a two-trip job and a slightly later move-in date. That’s it.
